The ERA-ENVHEALTH project (European Research Area – Environment and Health) started in September 2008 and is running until August 2012. Its objectives are to establish a network of programme managers in the field of environment and health (E&H), to define opportunities for cooperation, to identify priority areas for multinational E&H research, to develop coherent joint activities at the EU level, to implement joint multinational calls and, thereby, to provide policy support for the Environment and Health Action Plan 2004–2010 and a number of other EU policies. The Federal Environment Agency (UBA) is one of 16 partners from ten countries in this project and – together with its Slovakian partner – was responsible for writing the Final Report "Overview of environment and health programmes and projects including synthesis and recommendations", which was handed to the European Commission in March 2010. In this article the ERA-ENVHEALTH project shall be introduced briefly and the main results of the Final Report shall be summed up and discussed.
